The Renowned Musician Calls On Support to Get Together for Palestine Track to UK Christmas No 1.
A campaign is aiming to launch a traditional song from Palestine to the top of the UK charts. The project aims to deliver assistance to people in Gaza while also showcasing Palestinian cultural expression.
A Chance for Solidarity and an "Surprise Victory"
Renowned figure Brian Eno, who performs on the track, stated that the single 'Lullaby' represents a opportunity to stand with Palestinians over the Christmas period. He acknowledged the potential for an surprise number one.
“It would be incredible if that occurred, yes,” he commented. “I’m not gonna be completely let down if it doesn’t, festive releases are a unique phenomenon.”
Resilient Spirit of Freedom and Dignity
Palestinian singer Nai Barghouti, who sings on the reimagining of a folk song called Yamma Mwel El Hawa, explained the song's powerful central theme.
“It occupies a profound significance for many individuals,” Barghouti explained. “It’s basically saying that I would choose to perish with honor than live a life without freedom. This is the primary message of the song; we want to live a dignified life that we merit as a people.”
Track's Background and Contributing Musicians
The single was laid down following a major charity concert held in the autumn. Originally intended to be performed and recorded live, the performance was omitted from the lengthy event due to time constraints.
The diverse array of artists contributing to Lullaby encompasses a range of acclaimed names from the music world. All were part of the earlier concert, which managed to collect a substantial amount for relief efforts.
Final Touches and Availability
Lullaby was brought to life by a trio of music creators. The single showcases a combination of the traditional Arabic lyrics with freshly written English words.
The group managing the campaign have stated that their goal is to raise as much as possible for a specific fund. These proceeds will be distributed to projects in Palestine through an established charity.
“We haven't set a fixed goal,” a spokesperson explained. “We’ll go for as much as possible. Obviously, the more the merrier. All proceeds are directed out to the people of Gaza.”
The reality in the area was noted for its widespread damage, with a vast majority of infrastructure described as in ruins or severely impacted.
“Against that backdrop, a couple of million won't make an enormous impact. But I think what truly matters is primarily making this cause better known and proving there’s another side to the story.”
The track is set to be released on Friday. Additionally, a video of the solidarity show will be made accessible to view on a popular streaming site from the 19th of December.
