Hulu is Producing a Far Cry TV Show from the Creators of the Alien Series and It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia.
The newest action-packed instalment that gamers explored was Far Cry 6, that showcased Giancarlo Esposito in the role of the villain, Antón, and debuted on October 6, 2021. Throughout the franchise, it is known for embracing action and madness with similar excitement, all while telling captivating, ideologically themed narratives. Little surprise that the network’s new order for a Far Cry limited-run show brought on board two producers whose creations have represented all of those qualities.
About the Series
Inspired by Ubisoft's popular video game property, the limited anthology series will stream on Hulu and will be created by FX Productions. The show will also parallel the video games' structure by featuring a new setting and ensemble in every instalment.
Creative Minds
Rob Mac, mastermind of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and Noah Hawley, the visionary behind FX's Alien: Earth and Fargo, will serve as executive producers on the series under their companies, More Better Productions for Mac, and 26 Keys for Hawley. They will be accompanied by Emilia Serrano for 26 Keys, Nick Frenkel for 3 Arts, Jackie Cohn for More Better Productions, John Campisi, Gerard Guillemot, Margaret Boykin, and Austin Dill for Ubisoft Film & Television.
“FX has had excellent partnerships with Rob Mac and Noah Hawley for a total six series and 32 seasons of television, and we are overjoyed that they are working together for Far Cry,” stated Nick Grad, President, FX Entertainment, in a statement. “I have no doubt that they will deliver this story in a way that is original, compelling, and extremely entertaining. We also want to thank our collaborators at Ubisoft for entrusting us with this popular property.”
What’s Next
Mac will also feature in the show, but at the time of writing, we are unsure of what part that might entail. Hawley's Alien: Earth was just greenlit for a second instalment, with FX and Disney signing a new long-term contract with the producer.
“Being able to collaborate with Noah Hawley is a fantasy come true,” stated Rob Mac. “Ubisoft has been remarkably accommodating, placing faith in us with one of the most iconic video-game universes ever created. And through it all, my FX partners always encourages me with their steady belief and assistance.”
“What appeals to me about the Far Cry game collection is that it’s an anthology show. Each game is a interpretation of a idea, the same way every run of Fargo is a version on a story,” said Hawley. “To create a big action show that can shift from season to season, while always examining the core of society through this intricate and chaotic perspective, is a long-held aspiration. I’m excited to work with Rob and bring our shared unconventional, visionary approach to the screen.”
A time frame for when we can anticipate the new Far Cry show has remains undisclosed. The series will be available on Hulu in the United States and on Disney Plus internationally.
