Almost 55,000 homes have reportedly been harmed by the rains, with their items and shelters ruined.

Persistent precipitation over the recent period have intensified the precarious circumstances of the many hundreds of thousands of evacuated Palestinians in the Gaza Strip, according to humanitarian organizations.

"Terrible" Weather Brings Serious Threats

A official characterized the weather overnight as "awful", with rain so heavy that around 15cm (6in) of water accumulated on the streets.

"Last night was exceptionally terrible for the families. The storms were so strong... And the winds were so powerful," noted the spokesperson.

There is grave concern that minors residing in tents in soaked garments will succumb to hypothermia and other illnesses.

Fatalities and Widespread Destruction

The health ministry have stated that one baby has died from the cold and no fewer than 11 other people have died in building collapses triggered by the harsh conditions.

Other reports suggest a higher number of casualties. Officials stated that numerous structures had collapsed completely and dozens had sustained partial collapse.

  • Almost 55,000 families affected by the weather.
  • More than 40 official safe spaces inundated.
  • Many people forced to move once more.

Relief Distribution Deemed Inadequate

Agencies have stepped up shipments of shelter, warm covers and clothing after the halt in hostilities began, but they emphasize there is still not enough aid entering.

"Agencies are working relentlessly to bring in that assistance and to distribute it, but the magnitude of the necessities is so immense that we still have a great number of individuals and minors who are truly struggling each evening," stated one spokesperson.

Long-Term Issues and Agreement Terms

The next stage of the agreement encompasses proposals for the reconstruction of Gaza, along with post-war governance, the pullback of personnel, and other provisions.

Aid organizations have underscored the necessity for "greater and continuous relief to address immediate and future requirements."

The war was initiated by an attack in the autumn of 2023. Subsequent military operations have caused a high number of fatalities in the area, based on medical reports.
