Critical Role Campaign 4 Unveils the Fighters Party

Ever since the premiere of the fourth campaign, fresh DM the talented storyteller has kept fans guessing with deep backstory, a wide array of characters, and a gripping narrative including celestial beings, fiends, and dark forces growing in influence within the urban setting.

Note: Key plot points for the third episode of this adventure are included.

The Warrior Group Revealed

The latest chapter ended with a huge suspense moment and presented the premier party of adventurers who will split off from the primary party to begin their independent quest, separate from the additional parties.

The combat-focused team features Teor (brought to life by Travis Willingham), the nimble rogue (the talented performer), the strong-willed figure (Whitney), Wicander (Sam Riegel), and Kattigan (the actor).

Why Split the Party?

With an extensive roster, it was evident from the start that maintaining everyone at a single group would be unfeasible.

This explains, the opening chapters of the new season serve as an Overture, weaving together the individual narratives before branching into three distinct groups: Warriors, Planners, and Questers.

Characteristics of the Warrior Group

According to the DM, the warrior group is for participants who prefer a classically intense fight-heavy story mode where non-violent answers are few and far between.

Upon first impression, characters like the hesitant healer Wicander might seem mismatched, but the events of the latest installment show why these specific adventurers are best suited for the warrior group.

Reasons to Leave

To begin with, the team understands precisely where to head next after a brutal opening clash with the antagonists.

Casimir of Thjazi Fang—whose demise started the campaign’s events—used The Crow Keepers for his personal gain, invading Thjazi’s hideout, striking Thimble, and stealing all the enchanted items to dispose of.

The traitor then cleared his debts and fled to a fortified location in Gormalay, Timmony, north of the city, with Teor’s brother hot on his heels.

Character Drivers

Moreover, each adventurer has a specific drive to depart the metropolitan area:

  • The rogue, as the close ally and closest confidant, wants retribution.
  • The knowledgeable figure knows Timmony and warns that it is a hostile location.
  • The warrior and Wicander, having disobeyed his relatives’ demands to execute Teor and instead saved him, have no safe haven.
  • However, their status as key figures in the influential clan could assist the party access places they normally couldn’t.
  • Moreover, Teor swore a eternal obligation to The savior for his salvation and will now accompany him anywhere.

Wanted and Hunted

In addition, all of them are wanted by the authorities that rule the city for a range of causes, making lingering locally too risky:

  • The agile adventurer and The character are recognized lawbreakers.
  • The warrior and Wicander betrayed the influential house and the army of fiends they are aligned with.
  • Teor is marked for death by the family.

This leaves them little choice but to travel to the northern region in quest for Casimir.

What’s Next?

Based on the latest episode’s follow-up content, we find out that the combat party will be absent next week, leaving the other eight participants to form the Seekers and Planners groups.

Audiences can expect finding out which players will be assigned to which table in the season’s concluding setup installment, released on next week.
